On this
journey, I have been able to secure a booking agent for the band. Over the past
several months, the development of my band has been successful. At this stage,
my booking agent will be able to take the band to the next level. This will
allow me to focus on putting together great material for the band. A booking agent works to find locations for bands to play. This is done in a cases where
a band already has a decent following or where a booking agent truly believes
in the bands overall ability.
This journey has
definitely been rewarding with both ups and downs. However, I plan to take it
all in strides. After meeting with my booking agent, she wanted to know
specific details such as the bands image and so forth. This will allow her to
determine venue avenues and so forth for the band. Our agent plans to travel to
and research certain venues around to determine the best locations for the band
to perform.
I
consider this process of securing a booking agent to be the next peg placed on
the mental music mind map set for my career. One step at a time progress is
being made toward strengthening my music career. From the start, I knew it was
one that I could not take on by myself. Assistance is definitely needed from
the right individuals who possess knowledge of a particular music industry
skillset. Together these skillsets help mold and shape the careers of recording
artists. At this current point on my road to mastery, I realize that taking one
step ultimately guides you to the next phase of your journey. When one idea is
realized, a new one is waiting to be achieved. Over the next two weeks, I have
made plans to meet with the booking agent in order to gain some additional
insight on what is needed from the band to help at this stage. “Work with each
contributor to establish a good working relationship and mutual trust” (Kendrick,
2010, p. 21).

Hey Rick,
ReplyDeleteWe have similar interest as artist on a musical journey. I have been at it a long time but it’s what I love, so giving up is not an option. I hear perseverance through your blog and music so continue your journey too. A booking agent or manager is a great idea. I’m sure you are still booking your own gigs too. I wanted to share Sonicbids.com, a booking site you can book gigs through with a fee or apply to free ones. I’m looking into other sites and sources so I will share them as I find them. Here is another site with a list of ways to find gigs as well. http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2010/09/10-resources-that-help-musicans-book-gigs-online.html
Hope this helps. Wish you the best...
