My Band Is Complete!

My mastery journey goal number one is complete. I held my last set of auditions for band members today. I selected the last two musicians. My band is now complete. Its been a tough journey, but I now have a team of great musicians that I can work with on this road to mastery. I am happy about my success. We, as a band, look forward to a bright future.

New Music Genius Adventure #1

My goal for this year is to build a foundation for my career as a performing recording artist. Upon beginning the Entertainment Business program at Full Sail University, my mastery goal was to build a stronger foundation for my independent record label while also bringing awareness to my music magazine publication. In order to fully develop on this road to mastery, I decided that centralizing my focus on building and strengthening my own career as an independent record artist would lay the necessary groundwork for launching my journey to mastery.
Back in January 2014, I set the initial goal of putting together a plan for forming a live band. This plan has deemed very successful. I advertised my search for band members using two online sources and received immediate responses. Therefore, my journey has not yet led me astray. An audition day for the selected musicians will be held in two weeks. It never crossed my mind, but I now have a new learning experience to undertake. This involves educating myself on setting up and operating a live PA sound system. Is it not funny how one task inevitably leads to another?
Over the past week, I have been scouring the World Wide Web in search of educational resources for setting up a live PA system. I discovered some great learning tools for beginners interested in running live sound. After reviewing the resources, the process now appears easier than I initially thought it would be. Here are two really good sources for anyone needing insight on setting up live sound equipment. The first source teaches how to connect audio devices to a PA system. The second discusses eight basic steps in building a PA system.
After the auditions are complete and band members have been selected, my goal is to begin weekly rehearsals during the first week of March 2014. The live performances are slated to commence during early April 2014. Throughout this process, I have been able to understand the value of time. “Time is the most precious commodity for many people” (Maxwell, 1993, p. 61). When you are busy, time really does fly by. However, it is better to know that I have been as productive as possible during the past six weeks.

Music is a True International Language...

In my opinion, music is an international language that we all speak. Regardless of the verbal language that we learn during early childhood, sounds and melodies are relatable to millions around the globe. We move and dance to the beat of drums. We sing and harmonize in ways that express our deepest emotions. This is the reason why music is a true international language.
